The qualification exam (ODE, probability ... ) passing rate
for AMSC students is a little dissapointing. Discussing the
threshhold. The possibility of getting funded for some
additional study groups. Business courses exams are getting
significantly number of students. Suzanne will write the
letter to poll the interested students in each exam.

New System:
Students have to take 7 courses >= 600 Level in 5 areas, with
at least 5 A's and 2 B's.
In comparison the old system is:
Students have to take 10 courses in 5 areas (with possibly 4
undergrad level courses) with at least 7 A's and 3 B's.
Solution proposed: taking 2 600 level courses with at least 1
A and 1 B from the same area.
Suzanne will make formal write-up on this issue. The goal is
to present it at the next AMSC Grad. Committee Meeting.

We will look at this once the results of Suzanne's polls comes
back.
- AMSC Graduate Committee Meeting (November 1, 2004) - Danny
- Publishing AMSC policies and procedures
Discuss about the addition of Applied Statistics Concentration
to the AMSC program. The name of the AMSC Program has been
proposed to be "Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and
Computation" to attract student interested in statistics. The
ASC agrees that this change would detract from attracting
students interested in the "Scientific Computation".
