AMSC Student Seminar
- Discussed new possible formats, Motives for attending. Decided to move this discussion to wiki, where council members will draft a document outlining the seminar.
AMSC Student Resources
- Discussed communication between students. Prashant and Aaron volunteered to work on improving communication via online formums/wikis/blogs.
Graduation Conference
- Discussed that our committee members have been active in planning this in the past. Mike proposed making this a candidacy conference to bring in students entering their research. The committee will revisit the Graduation conference and its planning at the next committee meeting.
Orientation/Mentoring
- Discussed that new AMSC students will be coming this fall. Aaron requested that once he sends out a list of students to the committee that they will they will work to find appropriate mentors, based on research and personal interests. Aaron stated that he would provide wiki usernames and passwords to members to allow them to post information concerning mentoring, etc.
Recruitment
- It was mentioned that this past year ASC members played an active role in recruiting students to the AMSC program once offers were made by the AMSC office, and that we would work to do this again this year.

Funding

AMSC
- It was discussed that ASC received money via AMSC for some of the before mentioned initiatives including the AMSC student seminar and the Graduation Conference through the AMSC program.
SIAM
- It was discussed that ASC receives money from SIAM and that ASC has been able to use this money in our initiatives in the past and would work to do the same in the future.
GSG
- The proceedure for obtaining money through GSG was reviewed. It was mentioned that ASC obtained funding in 2 cases in the past.

Member Business
1. - It was discussed that the ASC consitution requires the ASC to have a treasurer. It was discussed that the treasurer would be asked to fill out and submit forms for funding, and on occassion meet with faculty to discuss funding for our initiatives. Aaron moved to make Mike O'Hara Treasurer. Mike needed to leave the meeting early, and was absent at this point of the meeting, this position awaits his acceptance. Mike accepted the position of treasurer
2. AMSC GSG Rep
  - It was discussed that the GSG representative would be asked to attend meetings to procure and report GSG funding to the GSG when requested. Prashant Athavale expressed that he has been involved with GSG in the past and would like to be the GSG representative for AMSC, members moved to make Prashant the AMSC GSG representative.
3. AMSC Student Seminar
  - Following the discussion about the AMSC student seminar. Scott Olsson and Matt Hoffman showed interest in serving on the AMSC student Seminar Planning Committee. They will be the planning committee for this years AMSC student seminar. Members agreed that the planning committee will work to promote the seminar, by informing faculty about the opportunity of their students giving a talk. Members agreed to continue discussion about the scheduling, planning, and organization of the seminar through e-mail and the AMSC student council wiki.
4. Graduation conference AMSC sub-committee
  - Scott Olsson and Mike O'Hara agreed to serve on the Graduation Conference sub-committee. It was agreed that we would try to get more member and outside involvement in the Fall semester.
5. Communication/Web AMSC sub-committee
  - Prashant and Aaron agreed to work together to improve communication and online resources for AMSC graduate students.
Adjournment
- It was mentioned that we are to meet before each of the AMSC Graduate Committee meetings which are held twice each semester. It was also mentioned that we would use the ASC e-mail address and the wiki to collaborate and discuss ideas in between these meetings.
